Caker Stream Solar Farm consultation

Caker Stream is a proposed solar project at Gaston Lane, Farringdon, Alton. This project is being developed by Quintas Cleantech together with us (Energise South Downs) and Energy Alton, who will work in partnership with Community Energy South to offer shared community ownership.

This site could generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 15,150 homes each year. The proposed solar farm will have a capacity of 44MW. In addition, a 2MW battery is also proposed which would store excess energy generated during the day by the solar panels, which can be released back on to the Grid when there is higher demand for electricity.

The location was carefully chosen. It is naturally screened and on low-grade agricultural land, which is currently farmed and used for grazing sheep. It offers an opportunity to connect to the grid economically, making this a great spot for a solar farm.
